10 Brands That Have Defined Skateboarding

Skateboarding has progressed thanks to the companies that push it forward

Rising from the ashes of Underworld Element Skateboards, Element formed in 1992 under the protection of Johnny Shilleriff. Shilleriff had a rough start to his own life and decided that Element Skateboards overall contribution to skateboarding would be a positive one.

With slick, fresh artwork and graphics, and a team that included Mike Vallely, Ray Barbee, Bam Margera, Bucky Lasek, Darrel Stanton and Jeremy Wray, Element managed both commercial success, a credible rep and sound ethical values. Not an easy combo, but one that helped Element become a key player in skateboarding.
