10 Cold Water Surfing Paradises

Surfing isn't all about basking in the sun - you can do it wherever there's swell, so long as you have a good wetsuit

Tofino on Canada’s west coast is British Columbia’s surf town. Situated on the west coast of Vancouver Island, and nestled in amongst the vast temperate rainforest that covers┬áthe area, Tofino is a little holiday town surrounded by fun surf. The rock lined coves and beaches of the area get loads of surf all year round from the North Pacific and it rarely goes flat. In the summer the beaches are crowded with surf schools, in the winter it’s just the hardy locals.

Beyond the easily accessible waves on the local beaches there are loads of waves, but you need a boat, some local knowledge and a big sense of adventure. It’s not for everyone but the beauty of the area is worth a visit on its own.
