Kamchatka, Russia

Surfing isn't all about basking in the sun - you can do it wherever there's swell, so long as you have a good wetsuit

Kamchatka-surfing-russia The Kamchatka Peninsula in western Russia is the massive country’s most exposed piece of coastline to surf, it is also one of the hardest to get to. But there are waves, and whilst it is still only slightly explored there is loads of potential. Backed by vast wilderness and some of the most active volcanos in the world, it is a place for the adventure enthusiast, and when you find out that it is full of Grizzly bears and vodka laden locals, it makes for an interesting experience.

You’ll need deep pockets as well, there are hardly any roads, so a good 4×4 or better still a helicopter is advised. But it’s this inaccessibility that adds to the adventure and makes it a paradise with so much potential.
