A few months back we brought you this amazing, though perhaps ethically questionable, old footage of a chimpanzee riding a bike, as part of this 21 Incredible Scientific Facts About Cycling piece.

And now we present its 21 century iteration, Melanie the cycling raccoon… who to quote her owner: “has great balancing skills and doesn’t even need a seat.”

Again, we don’t speak raccoon or read minds, more’s the pity, so it’s tricky to get a sense as to whether Melanie is enjoying her ride, though we’re pretty sure she likes the treats she gets afterwards and she looks well looked after. And at least she’s not dressed in a stripy blazer and a bow tie.
