Torn Flesh, Fractured Wrists, And Kick Flips: This Is Ice Boarding

This is the perfect sport for British winters…

It’s that questionable time of year where, in the UK at least, it’s not cold enough to snow and give us a nice big dump, but it’s also to cold to go out and skate. Well, it turns out that they’ve got a similar problem over in Cincinnati, USA.

But skater Andy Schrock and his crew didn’t let a little thing like the weather stop them having some fun. They took their decks, and a patch of ice and created the wrist fracturing sport of Ice Skating. No, that exists… err, Ice Boarding. Yes!

Initially, there are a lot of falls, as you’d maybe expect. In fact, pretty much all the way through, the ice gets the better of the guys. However, they also manage to land some flip tricks and ever put together what could (quote loosely) be called lines.

We don’t think Ice Boarding is going to be troubling the world of board sports too strongly as the new upstart that everybody will be jumping on. What it does do, though, is show that, with a bit of imagination, the weather doesn’t have to stop you having a mini-shred.
