Scared or Stoked? This Aerial Footage of The ‘World’s Heaviest Wave’ Is Absolutely Mesmerising

This is Teahupo'o... but like you've never seen it before

In July, massive swells hit Tahiti, resulting in some of the biggest waves Teahupo’o has seen in recent years.

Spectacular footage has already emerged of the sessions that ensued, but none as spectacular as this. Shot from the air using a DJI drone and a Phantom camera this gives an incredible sense not just of the size of the waves, but of their raw power.

No wonder the break, which loosely translates as “place of skulls” is known as “the heaviest wave in the world”.
