These Guys Just Turned Munich Airport Into The Most Unlikely Surfing Paradise In The World

Now you can catch waves while you're waiting to catch your flight...

What do you wile you’re waiting for your flight at the airport? Walk around the book shop pretending to have an interest in low-brow literature? Stock up on Toblerone? Desperately search for the least shit gift possible for the other half who’s a bit annoyed you went away without them?

How about a spot of surfing? At Munich Airport, catching waves while waiting for your flight has become easier than you might think. A static wave was installed recently, and a full blown surf comp was held.

Despite not just being inland, but a solid eight hour drive from the nearest slice of German ocean, Munich is somewhat of a surf capital, not only because of the temporary wave at the airport, but because the Eisbach river that runs through the city is also surfable.

Now, where did we put those plane tickets?
