Americans have just celebrated Independence Day (4th of July). If you’re not familiar with the concept of Independence Day, it’s a Stateside celebration of the day that Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum fought off an alien invasion that had momentarily threatened to wipeout all life on earth.

To celebrate this historically-significant occasion, Americans like to fill up the sky with colourful fireworks. Fireworks which, of course, have various quantities of gunpowder in them. Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist, a scientist, or even just an inanimate rock to know that any activity involving gunpowder has the potential to be quite dangerous.

Some people, however, never seem to learn. And so, with that in mind, let’s take a look at this cautionary-firework footage from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

We’d like to tell you that no mannequins were hurt in the making of this, but that would be a massive lie. The highlights package you can see below was put together by Gizmodo. If you’d like to watch the official safety video, you can do so by clicking on the hyperlink.

While we’re on the subject of dangerous explosives, check out this ridiculous video of some dudes lighting a mortar in their garage. As you’d expect, from that briefest of descriptions, this video kicks off worse than an International Buckaroo Convention.

If you’re averse to loud noises, or people acting like silly sausages, you’re probably best off looking elsewhere for your entertainment because this clip contains both.
