Remember the first time you ever watched Takeshi Castle and thought to yourself ‘what the hell is going on here? Is this still Earth?’

Well, after a while you get used to it. You learn to accept that that’s just the way Japanese game shows are – batshit crazy – so you go back to your day job, do your school or office hours and then return to your home safe in the knowledge that you’ll be able to watch crazy Japanese folk fighting in sumo suits when you get home.

Then it happens. Another Japanese game show comes along and blows your mind all over again. You ask yourself the same questions, and this time it’s hard to come up with an answer – because guess what, you’ve just watched a video of a woman in a glass box getting bizarrely attacked by a bear.
