When you hear the words ‘Mark Cavendish’, you think of a powerhouse cyclist, a Tour de France warrior, a world champion.

If you imagine where Mark Cavendish trains and rides, you probably think of beautiful Alps, warm temperatures and unforgettable landscapes perfect for road cycling.

What you don’t imagine Cav gets up to an awful lot, is cycling through flooded roads in Essex… and falling into the water.

But, as you’ve no doubt come to see, that’s what happened way back in April 2012, and the footage resurged earlier this year on the BBC 5 Live YouTube channel.

The video shows Cav powering through – or attempting to power through – a whole load of water in the British cold, while cameraman and fellow rider Rob Hayles laughs his head off in the back track.

Mark takes what we can only imagine must have been a horribly cold tumble into the water, Rob laughs even more, and we can’t help but have a little giggle as well.

Sorry Cav, we love you a lot and you’re a much, much better cyclist than any of us will ever be. But this is quite funny.
