The established women’s riders weren’t safe either as there was one big surprise and one near miss. For the latter, Kelly Clark reigned supreme in the women’s Superpipe once more, claiming her fourth successive gold in the events, her 70th win overall.

It was a narrow victory with 13 year old prodigy, Chloe Kim, snapping at her heels once more. Kim arrived on the scene with a third place at the Dew Tour before Christmas, again finishing just below Clark. It’s clear that it won’t be long before the young American ends up on the top of the podium.

The Slopestyle final on Friday evening was won by Silje Norendal as she saw off America’s sweetheart, Jamie Anderson. It was the Nowegian’s first win in Aspen, having already won the same even in Tignes in 2013. Here she went one step further. Anderson has reigned supreme over the event in recent years and was the clear favourite but Norendal’s combination of super smooth spins and incredible rail action was enough to see off Anderson.
