Aleksander Østreng is a young Norweigen snowboarder known for his huge bag of tricks. His favourite is the Hardway backside 270, but that's just the tip of the trick iceberg. Østreng first introduced himself to the scene with an impressive third place finish at the Andreas Wiig Invitational in 2009 and achieved his first major victory at the BEO soon after.
Aleksander carries the rather odd nickname of 'Donkey' across the snowboarding circuit - a reference to his mispronunciation of "Dunkin' Donuts". This was handed to him by his manager, Kevin Keller, and is no slight against his superlative technique. Aleksander is known for his relentless energy in chasing new tricks and mountains and his charisma has seen him land a full part in the film 'Vacation'.
Originally coming from a sleepy Oslo suburb called Rykkinn, Østreng began riding at a very young age, having been handed a snowboard by his grandfather. He successfully transitioned through the Youngblood program, as well as graduating from the Geilo snowboard school in 2010. Over the winter he has been participating at the Winter Dew Tour, coming an overall 15th in his favoured Slopestyle.
Aleksander prefers to ride goofy and, along with his stylish natural technique, has a reputation for pulling off some incredibly big air backflips. On top of this, he is also known for a his range of exciting trips and carefree approach to the slopes.
