Young German Street rider Bruno Hoffmann is fast becoming one of the biggest names in BMX. In 2013, he has won a silver medal in BMX Street at X Games Barcelona, and also secured a solid ninth-placed finish at the Simple Session event in Tallinn, Estonia.
He burst onto the pro scene as a 14-year-old in 2007 and was soon securing consistently high finishes at every contest he entered. In 2009 he impressed the judges at Simple Session and also came second in the German Open. He also demonstrated his amazing Street skills at the Red Bull Trick or Treat event in 2010, where he picked up first place, and he consistently places in the top ten at the BMX Masters championships.
Born in 1993 in Siegen, a small town close to Cologne, fresh-faced Bruno says he began riding when he was ‘about eight’. He remains close to his parents ‘who support me whatever’, and still rides for fun whenever he can with his friends in the parks and streets of his hometown.
After being initially influenced by riders such as Garrett Reynolds and Chase Hawk, Bruno has developed a distinct style, involving a blend of power, flow and technical ability. Keen to discover new skills and moves, and to surprise judges when it comes to contests, Bruno often hangs with underground riders, but he believes that new tricks often develop by themselves. “I don’t want to ride to learn new stuff,” he says, “I just ride for fun.”
