Californian Courtney Conlogue shot on to the world stage in 2006 when she competed as a 14-year-old wildcard at the Billabong Pro Maui at Honolua Bay, but it was her victory at the 2009 ASP 6-Star US Open of Surfing that pinpointed her as a future world title challenger. In 2010 she won the 6-star Cabreiroa Surfing Girls Pro in Spain, and she finished the year at world number three, qualifying for the elite tour for the first time. She was named Women’s Breakthrough Performer of the Year in 2011 after finishing eighth in the tour rankings, and she continued her progress in 2012 with her first world title event victory and an overall ranking of fifth. She currently lies in fourth place in the rankings for 2013, having won her second world title event and put in consistent top-five performances all season. Born into a passionate surfing family on 25th August 1992, Courtney was first introduced to surfing by her father at the age of four while on holiday in Mexico. She started her competitive career at nine, and quickly rose to the top of the NSSA. Undoubtedly one of the fittest girls on the elite world tour, Courtney can out-paddle all her rivals, and has an unwavering endurance for anything the ocean throws at her. Her polished surfing style that is both powerful and progressive and her unwavering determination to challenge for the top spot will surely ensure she continues to climb the rankings in the coming years.
