Brit Dan Lacey has been riding Street since 2000, and over that time has put out a series of intense video sections and web clips featuring progressive riding. He made his first Street appearance in the X Games in 2010, when he finished 11th. He is also no slouch when it comes to Park riding, as shown by his sessions and appearances in a number of Federal Bikes videos over recent years.
In 2013, he triumphed in the Street final in the Battle at the Beach at the Dew Tour Beach Championships, a session made up of a single thirty minute organized jam. Among a number of insanely technical tricks that he landed at the event was a backward grind to over toothpick down the rail, which also won him the Best Trick award.
Born on 14th July 1988 in Rye on the south coast of England, Dan is now based in nearby Hastings, although he makes frequent trips to Austin, Texas to learn from the masters of the sport. He first tried BMX Street at the age of 12 and has been competing regularly since 2006.
Dan himself gives his reasons for riding Street as ‘creativity and individuality’, and he certainly gives it his all with a completely confident style. Able to land a rapid-fire succession of tricks on a complex series of street obstacles, plus huge 180s and 360s over rails to flat, he has every move in the book, with a few more besides.
