Norwegian Danny Larsen has been riding professionally for K2 Snowboarding since 2003 as well as being a global team rider for L1 Outerwear, Howl, ELM and Session Boardshop. He also works with companies such as high-end snowboard boot maker ThirtyTwo, footwear brand Etnies and eyewear company Spy Optic both as a pro rider and as a contributing artist, designing signature boots, shoes, apparel and goggles.
His enormous talents have given him the opportunity to compete in snowboarding events around the world, but he says he prefers photography and filming because of the freedom it gives him - he worked for five years with Pirate Movie Productions and has probably graced more magazine covers in one season than any other snow athlete.
Danny was born in Oslo on 11th July 1981, and he still calls Kirkerud and Tryvann, both near the capital city, his ‘home’ mountains. He grew up listening to bands like Guns ‘N Roses and rock ‘n roll still heavily influences his approach - he was one of the first to bring a punk attitude to the sport, opting for the tight look rather than the baggy style favoured by most pros.
He is undoubtedly one of the most imaginative and gutsy snowboarders to ever grace the sport, drawing inspiration from riders such as Jaime Lynn and from videos such as Scotty Wittlake’s attitude-heavy part in Brainstorm. With a goofy stance, he can perform amazing tricks and high-flying manoeuvres, such as his favourite Fs Ollie on small side hits, and is never afraid to push the limits.
