Enni Rukajärvi truly came to prominence during 2011 by becoming the first rookie snowboarder ever to win the Winter X-Games Women's Slopestyle event. Indeed, in that year she also won a gold at the FIS Snowboarding World Championships, bronze at the Winter X Europe and was victorious in the Burton US Open. This incredible year wasn't totally unexpected, however, as it came off the back of the TTR World Tour and Burton Global Open Series titles, in 2012. She also backed up her rookie success at the Winter X Games with a Slopestyle silver in 2012. On top of this she also had a number of other podium finishes, including - silver at the Burton European Open and a bronze at the US Open. She also took Rookie of the Year at the Transworld Rider’s Poll Awards and finished 2nd in Slopestyle for the Dew Tour season. Born in the sleepy town of Kuusamo, in Finland, she learnt her trade at the local Ruka resort. In an area not famed for big mountains and long runs, it was here that her explosive style was born. She began competing in 2007. She is happy still to be living in her local town, but with such incredible success on the slopes is sure to continue lighting up tournaments for many years to come. Rukajärvi rides in a regular stance and is a progressive boarder. She regularly sets herself apart from the field with innovative rail work and huge spins. She has a reputation for going higher and farther than anyone else. She is a consistent border who is always threatening the podium at major Slopestyle events.
