Hawaiian Fredrick Patacchia has been a consistent presence on the ASP World Tour over recent years, with a highest end-of-season ranking of 12th in 2006 and 2008. In his ninth consecutive season on the tour in 2013, he currently lies in 19th place overall, despite missing the first three rounds of the season with injury. His best performance so far came in the sixth round at Teahupo’o, losing out in the quarter-finals to Kelly Slater. Away from world title events, Fred has picked up three victories in his tour career, including the ASP 2-Star Xcel Pro Sunset Beach in 2002 and the 3-Star Sobe No Fear Sunset Beach in 2004. In 2009, he also won the ASP PRIME Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro, beating defending champion Ben Bourgeois in the final with a 9.0 and 7.5. Born on 15th December 1981, super-friendly Fred grew up on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, a world-renowned surfing location, where his father Fred Sr. owned a surf shop. Soon after becoming NSSA national champion, he moved up to the elite division, when he was named Rookie of the Year in 2005 for finishing his debut season in 14th place. Fred is a fast and powerful goofyfoot. He's an incredible tube rider at spots like Pipe and Teahupo'o and he's also got a wicked backhand honed from years smacking the lip at his home break of Haleiwa. His favourite airs and barrels can also be seen in films, including his self-produced signature film, The Freddy P Project: Interrogation.
