Iceland’s snowboarder, Halldór Helgason is most famous for being the first ever Iceland snowboarder to medal at the Winter X Games when he won a gold medal at the games in 2010. Since then his jaw dropping video parts and growing business portfolio have made him one of the biggest names in the sport right now.
As well as representing American giants, Nike, Halldór is also sponsored by himself. With brother, Eiki, he started and now runs several established brands - most notably Lobster and Switchback. In 2010 he won gold in the Aspen Open but crashed out of the 2013 X-Games when a failed attempt at a triple backflip ended in concussion. Halldór isn't just confined to the safety of competition. His video parts are always guaranteed to be feature something fresh and exciting and he's starred in films such as including ‘They came from’ and ‘The Storming’ in 2011; released a free online film called ‘Sexual Snowboarding’ in 2012 with his brother. He was last seen stealing the show in Nike's 'Never Not' movie where he executed an incredible backflip over a huge roof gap - wearing a neck brace.
Halldór was born on January 10, 1991 in Akureyri, Iceland. He started snowboarding at an early age along with his brother, Eirikur 'Eiki' Helgason, who is also now a professional snowboarder and often Halldór's partner in crime.
Halldór sends it big whether he's up in the mountains or destroying small Icelandic towns. Style, stunts and fearlessness are his key assets and have led to be one of the most acclaimed riders in the world right now.
