Iouri Podladtchikov is most famous for landing a Double McTwist 1260 that resulted in him scoring a whooping 98.00 at the Tignes X Games 2010. At the time it was the highest Superpipe score in X-Games history. Since then it has been matched and bettered by the only ever person to land the Double McTwist, Shaun White.
Podladtchikov has been winning contests since he began his career. At 18 he won the Halfpipe prize at O'Neill Evolution in his adoptive home of Davos. It was the first 6 star WST event he'd ever entered. Following such an impressive start to his career, IPod, as he is known has continued to improve and bring home even more silverware.
Iouri was born on September 13, 1988 and grew up in Davos, Switzerland. He has been competing since 2000 and has competed at the past two Winter Olympics for two different countries. At Turin in 2006 he represented Russia, the country of his birth. Having moved to Switzerland shortly afterwards he decided to switch nationality and was part of the Swiss team in Salt Lake City 4 years later.
Earlier this year Ipod was the first rider to land the Cab Double Cork 1440, more simply known as the 'YOLO Flip'. Comprising a switch double flip with four rotations, the trick came at in the finals of the X-Games Tignes Superpipe. In true YOLO style he followed it up with a heavy fall but it didn't halt his jubilation, 'It felt rock and roll, baby' he said.
