Jess Kimura is the woman dubbed as Snowboarder Magazine’s Ms. Superpark Standout 2010. She bashes down all of the typical stereotypes directed at female snowboarders by getting back up after every fall and killing it next time.
Kimura has a glittering trophy cabinet. She won the silver medal in the 2013 X Games Real Women competition. Twice she's been named as Transworld Snowboarding Magazine's Female Rider of the year; as well as winning Video Part of the Year and Reader’s Choice Fan Favourite twice in a row. In 2012, she was featured in ESPN’s Top 50 Most Influential People in action sports.
Jess Kimura was born in May, 1984, in Vernon, BC in Canada and later moved to Squamish, BC. Her new home was less than an hour away from Whistler and home to many previous snowsport greats so it's hardly surprising that she took to snowboarding so quickly.
As a member of the Capita snowboarding team Kimura has starred in their Defender of Awesome movies with some fantastic street parts. Jess is also unafraid to speak out of on the various issues that concern the women's side of the sport and has become something of a figurehead, both on and off the slopes.
