British rider Joe Barnes has had a starring role in the first-ever Enduro World Series in 2013, finishing ninth in the first race of the series in Punta Ala, Italy, ninth in the fourth race at the Colorado Freeride Festival, and tenth in the fifth race at Crankworx Whistler in Canada. With one round of the season remaining, he currently lies in a solid tenth place overall.
He has also picked up some great results in his career away from the World Series, with victories in the second and fourth races at the 2012 Irish Gravity Enduro, and in the second race at the 2013 Innerduro competition in Innerleithen, Scotland. He also warmed up for the World Series with a second-placed finish in the first round of the 2013 Specialized-SRAM Enduro series in Treuchtlingen, Germany.
Joe hails from Fort William in Scotland, and grew up riding bikes with his sister Hannah, who has also gone on to become a professional mountain biker. When he isn’t wowing crowds at top enduro events, he keeps in touch with his roots by getting together with fellow Fort William locals Liam Moynihan and Fergus Lamb as the ‘Dudes of Hazzard’ - their self-produced laugh-out-loud videos, filmed on trails around Europe, have become hugely popular.
After making a big impression on the downhill circuit, Joe’s passion for trail bikes meant his move to the rapidly growing enduro racing scene came as no surprise. And his results so far for the new Canyon factory racing team prove it was a wise decision.
