After turning pro in 2010, Aussie Kyle Baldock hit the competitive BMX scene hard the following year, winning the opening stop of the Dew Tour in July, picking up a second place finish in Portland and finishing in third place overall in both Park and Dirt. His progress continued in 2012, with a second place in Park at the Pantech Beach Championship and a win in the Dirt Best Trick contest for a Front Flip Cliff Hanger.
Among other highlights in his career so far are appearances at the X Games, where he came eighth in Park in 2011, and a gold medal in the BMX section at Farm Jam 2013. He was also awarded the Pro-Tec Best Trick Award at The Hunt BMX Video Premier in 2011 for a 360 Downside Tailwhip to superman seat grab.
Born in 1991 on Australia’s Gold Coast, Kyle’s first time on a bike was at three years old when he fell down a flight of stairs and vowed to himself he would never ride again. He kept his promise until the age of 16 when he caught the BMX bug following a visit to a local BMX track to see his friends in action.
Kyle describes his own riding style as ‘robot’, influenced by riders such as Ryan Guettler, Jamie Bestwick and Dave Mirra. More suited to traditional courses than the unique Park courses at X Games, he has landed nearly all of the most difficult tricks in BMX.
