Junior British Series Champion, Junior World Cup Champion, Junior World Champion - young British downhiller Manon Carpenter notched up some great accolades in her first season after joining the Madison Saracen team in 2011. She also impressed in the Elite field the following year with an impressive second place at the first World Cup race of the year in Pietermaritzburg. Despite picking up an injury midway through the season, Manon still finished the season on a high with a bronze medal at the World Championships, as well as wrapping up the elite national title with consummate ease.
Her success continued in 2013 with a second-placed finish in the first downhill World Cup race of the season at Fort William, Scotland, and podium finishes in four of the subsequent five rounds. She finished the series third overall, behind only Rachel Atherton and Emmeline Ragot.
Born in south Wales on 11th March 1993, Manon was inspired to take up the sport by her father Jason, a BMX track builder who is also her coach. She attended St. Martin's Comprehensive School, Caerphilly and was still studying for her A-levels when she experienced such great success in 2011.
Manon loves nothing better than going flat out, using her background in a whole range of cycling disciplines, including dual slalom, enduro, BMX and motocross, to her advantage. She also performs well in 4X, picking up a second-placed finish in the first round of the 2013 Schwalbe British Series in Afan, and a victory in the second race in Falmouth.
