After a year full of injuries in 2008, Nate “The Destroyer” Adams burst back onto the scene in fine style in 2009 by dominating the second half of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, crowning his comeback season with a sensational performance at the season finale at London’s Battersea power station to win the overall title.
Adams proved his victory was no fluke by repeated the achievement in 2010, becoming not only the first rider to win double championships but also the first rider to win back-to-back championships. Over the years, he has also won gold medals at the 2004 X Games and the 2003 Gravity Games, and has enjoyed top finishes on the Vans Triple Crown tour. In 2007, he was awarded AST Dew Tour Athlete of the Year.
Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Nate began riding when he was eight years old when his father bought him his first dirtbike. As with many other top freestyle riders, he began by riding motocross, but soon switched disciplines. He graduated from Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale in 2002 and won his first freestyle championship later the same year.
The last couple of seasons have been tough for Nate, with multiple injuries causing him to miss every stop on the X Fighters tour in both 2012 and 2013. Fortunately his laidback and humour-filled approach to life does not let him take the pressures of freestyle too seriously, and when not competing he enjoys everything from video games to movies, art and drawing.
