2011 was a typical year for Brit Olly Wilkins, his ninth riding for DMR Bikes. Despite a shoulder injury which put him out of action for a couple of months, he rode trails all over the UK and the legendary Peynier trails in the south of France, entered a street race in Plymouth, and did some downhilling in the Swiss Alps and crosscountry in France. Olly studied Branding and Packaging at Farnham UCA and now also works as a brand manager and illustrator at DMR, meaning he has become involved in the bike industry not only through his riding, but also through design, writing and video. His design work is inspired by his lifelong passion for riding bikes on dirt. He first rode his bike in the woods on rides with his family, and after receiving a cross country bike as a Christmas present he realised that he had a special skill. He began racing downhill, and after finishing third at an event in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset at the age of 17, he was approached by the team manager of DMR, who offered him a product deal. He has been riding with the company ever since. Specialising in jumps and downhill racing, and whips that are famously big and stylish, Olly is known the world over for his style and grace on a bike. However, despite his skills, he never takes himself too seriously, and his videos, such as ‘How to Whip’ and ‘Olly Wilkins on Enduro’, are always full of humour.
