Remy Absalon, a member of the Commencal team, is an extremely talented enduro racer with a long list of accomplishments to his name, including four European DH marathon titles, and a victory at the Open Enduro Crankworx in Whistler. He has also had continued success in Megavalanche races, with four victories in la Reunion and three victories at Alpe d’Huez.
In 2013 he took part in the inaugural Enduro World Series, with remarkably consistent results throughout the year. His best finish came in the third round at Les 2 Alpes, where he came fourth, and over the first six races he only once finished outside the top ten. With one race to go in the series, he is currently in fifth place overall.
Remy grew up riding bikes with his brother Julien in the Vosges department of north eastern France. Julien went on to become a top professional cross country mountain biker, but DH marathon was Remy’s chosen path. His big breakthrough came in 2004, when he gave everything to beat the legendary Alex Balaud and secure his first European title.
Nine years later, and Remy is still a top contender in every enduro race that he enters, mixing it up with the likes of Nico Vouilloz, Fabien Barel and Jerome Clementz for the podium places. His experience and ability to manage mechanical uncertainties on demanding ground will mean he is surely a contender for the top spot at the second edition of the Enduro World Series in 2014.
