American, Sage Kotsenburg, is only 20 but has been competing in snowboarding competitions for 13 years. Even more impressive is that he's ended up on the podium for a great deal of them. Kotsenburg started competing when he was 7, he soon began to attract attention for his efforts on the US Snowboard Series. For the four years he competed in it he won every event he entered. It was only a matter of time till he graced the senior competitions and he made the jump aged twelve. His success has continued since stepping up and in 2010 hewon the Slopestyle Silver medal at both the Winter X Games and the European X Games. Sage joined the elite group of riders with Cab Double Cork 1440 in his locker and he debuted it at Innsbruck’s Air & Style in February 2011. That same year he came third in the Arctic Challenge and was also made a member of the US Snowboarding Pro Team. Kotsenburg grew up near Park City, Utah though he was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Snowboarding seems to run in his family, as he started snowboarding very early with his brother, Blaze, who is now also a professional snowboarder. They would also continue snowboarding with their younger sister, Kirra, and transformed their parents into their teachers, managers, video producers and travel agents. Sage uses determination and willpower to pull off amazing stunts and tricks as he rips slope after slope. He plans to use this style to continue competing until he successfully completes his dream of being the best snowboarder alive.
