Scotty Lago is an Olympic medalist and 2004 World Quarter-Pipe Champion. In recent years he's been dropped from his Olympic squad, shattered his jaw and been on the recovery trail and he's showing signs of getting back to his best.
Lago has the tricks and the muscle to compete with the best in many of snowboarding's disciplines. His pedigree in the pipe is clear though he is not represent his country in the event since some embarrassing photos of his exploits at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 surfaced. The young American left the games early, and in disgrace, but since then has expanded his riding repertoire and explored new areas of the sport. With friends, Travis Rice and Mark Landvik, he travelled out into the big mountains and showed the full range of his talents.
Scotty Lago was born on November 12, 1987 in Seabrook, New Hampshire. He started snowboarding in 1996 at a local tubing hill in Amesbury, Massachusetts. He soon graduated to riding the pipe and the rest is history.
Competing has been put on the backburner since 2010 though he has still racked up some big podiums, including silver at the 2011 X-Games in Aspen. He continues to rebuild his reputation and improve his skills and will hopefully be brought back into the USA fold before next years Games in Sochi.
