Street and Freestyle rider Tobias Wicke’s pro career was kickstarted in 2000 by his victory at the mini-ramp Master Class World Championship in Cologne. His victory led to him being picked up by two sponsors, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Among the highlights of his glittering career, he took first place in both Mini-ramp and Pro Street at the 2005 German Championships, and then took another first place in Mini-ramp at the same event in 2008. He also took first place in the Pro Street section of Bike Show 09 in Barcelona, second place in Pro Mini at Relentless Boardmasters in Newquay in 2010, and served as a judge at the 2012 Red Bull R.Evolution contest in his hometown of Berlin.
Tobi was given his first BMX in 1994 when he 12 years old, and he soon abandoned his plans to become a doctor or surgeon in order to concentrate on riding his bike. He spent a lot of time practising his freestyle tricks at Berlin’s Mellowpark, and he still spends a lot of time there, motivating and inspiring the next generation of riders to pursue a career in BMX.
He is a true original on a bike, who can show off unbelievable miniramp tricks and is equally at home when Park or Street riding or on Dirt. He has a well-deserved reputation for pulling off crazy technical moves, with signature dream lip tricks on the front wheel and using a front brake being a particular highlight.
