Victor Lucas is a freelance photographer and videographer for magazines and commercial clients, specializing in mountain biking and adventure sports. In the UK he has worked for all the leading mountain bike magazines, including MBR, MBUK and What Mountain Bike?, and his work has also featured in other publications around the world such as Velo News and Bike in the USA and Australian FHM. He spends his summers travelling around the globe, capturing the highs and lows of many of mountain biking’s premier racing and freeride events, including the Val d'Isere World Cup of 2012 for Dirt Magazine. As competitions thin out in the winter, he travels to interesting locations that have opportunities for inspiring photos and stories, while also finding time to ride his own bike. Born in Dublin, Ireland, but now based in Spain, Victor’s background is in visual design, but he says he became ‘frustrated’ with sitting behind a desk all day, and decided to give it all up for the chance to explore the great outdoors. “The things that get me excited,” he says, “are passionate people, amazing places and the adrenalin pumping action of sports like mountain biking, BMX, skiing and snowboarding.” Recent video projects include ‘A Hill in Spain’ with top British trials rider Chris Akrigg - the edit, which features some of the amazing riding spots around the Spanish city of Malaga combined with a mix of riding styles and a touch of local flavour, is currently nearing a million views on Vimeo.
