The Winter Olympics 2010
The 21st Winter Olympics are to be held in Vancouver this year, and will feature 15 different sports, including several different disciplines of snowboarding, skiing and bobsleigh. With competitors from over 80 countries, and 1.6 million event tickets available (as well as global television coverage), this is one of the biggest events in the action sports calendar of 2010.
All eyes are on Snowboarder Shaun “Wonderboy” White, to see if he can get his hands on gold in the half pipe event. He placed 1st at the last winter Olympics (Torino, 2006), and consistently dominates any events that he enters. His female counterpart, Hannah Teter, also has an impressive track record in the lead up to this year’s contest, and will be looking to grab her second Olympic gold.
It will be no easy win for either favourite though, with Gretchen Blelier, the silver medallist in 2006, snapping at Teter's heels, and White facing strong competition from a number of rider's, notably Louis Vito and Peet
