Red Bull Pro Nationals 2010: Round 7, Pontrilas, Hereford
If there’s a track on the tour that’s really traditional then Howton Court, Pontrilas is it! There’s a minimal amount of modern technical track design and there’s a reason for it: this place doesn’t necessarily need it! Based around a curved hillside, this place has almost perfect motocross soil and flows like the wind. There’s an abundance of off-cambered turns, which creates ruts and plenty of switchback lines for riders to cut over and get creative for passing moves. The highlight of the circuit is the high-speed drop off in the centre, where riders fly back into view to the majority of the spectators. In this case less is more, as the racing is always intense and exciting.
