Signal Snowboards – Every Third Thursday: Air If You Dare Snowboard | News and Views

Signal have posted the latest video in their popular Every Third Thursday series and this one definitely brings an interesting concept to the table. The idea is that two inner tubes are inserted into the board that run parallel with the sidewalls and can be inflated to different extents to alter the flex of the board. It definitely helps that the guy testing the board (Spencer Link) RIPS, but how fun does this board look to ride? With very little air in it the board is buttery soft and easy to jib and press on. When fully inflated, although sticky on rails, the board has a whole load of extra pop. Sounds perfect doesn’t it? This concept reminds us of a slightly less tech version of Head’s Kers technology which uses a microchip in the board to channel the kinetic energy from vibrations into the nose and tail, stiffening them up at speed. Could this technology ever be incorporated properly into boards in the future? It certainly would allow for a one board quiver.
