Senegal
So, I just got back from Senegal, West Africa.
Having arrived at the airport and being greeted in a very African way (Being charged 10 Euros for an 'official baggage handler' to carry my bag just over 10 metres) I stepped out of the airport and thought, WOW, this is sweaty. With locals offering to give me "good price" for exchanging Euros to the local retained curracy (CFA), gasping for breath we eventually hooked up with Samba, the surf hut airport guy.
We were lucky our boards arrived in one piece, a guy we met on the plane who was staying at the same place as us was stood up at the airport by his wave ski, which according to the airline, was taking a well deserved 4 day rest in Madrid. AKA LOST. Gutted.
We got to N'gor surf camp which treated us like kings, we surfed the N'gor right and heavy spots like Ouhkam. Everyday the waves pumped and the wind was offshore at at least one spot on the dakar penninsula. Perfection.
I say go to Senegal! The waves of your life. Watch out fo
