In motocross, a tabletop refers to a style of jump or section of the track. A tabletop has a ramp that leads up to a flat and raised section of ground and then a ramp on the other end. The lengths of the tabletops vary greatly.
Tabletops are common on motocross tracks or just on their own. The longer the tabletop the more speed that will be required to clear it. The biggest obstacle to overcome when tabletop jumping is fear.
The nice thing about tabletops is that if the rider does not clear the jump they can still land. Also, typically nothing will lie on the other side of the tabletop that riders will have to deal with upon their landing.
Motocross riders are now jumping in excess of 300 feet.
