About Steve Peat
Steve Peat is a professional downhill mountain biker. He was born on June 17, 1974 in Chapeltown, South Yorkshire, and continues to reside in his home town. He is married and has two sons.
Steve Peat began his career with little fanfare, riding with the Saracen team. By the middle of the 1990's, he joined Team MBUK and eventually rode for GT bicycles. He went on to join the Orange Team and won the Fort William Downhill World Cup round in 2005. He moved on to become a member of the Santa Cruz Syndicate team, where he has continued to excel. Some of his more recent achievements have included winning the La Bresse Downhill World Cup round 2 on May 10, 2009 and becoming World Cup champion in 2002, 2004, and 2006. He also won the World Championship on September 6, 2009.
In addition to his professional performances, Steve Peat has chosen to maintain other involvements with the sport.
He is a partial owner of Royal Racer, a company specializing in riding clothing.
