Episode 10 of The Atherton Project kicks off back home in Llanrhaeadr, Wales. Ever since moving here, Dan’s been meaning to get to work on building some tracks and jumps in the back yard – and it’s a great excuse to have some fun with a large digger… Then it’s a short trip up the road to Llangynog for the Red Bull Weekend Warriors event – a chance for young and up-and-coming riders to join the Athertons in their own back yard, hit the downhills and get some expert coaching from the family along the way.

Episode 8 of The Atherton Project begins with the team heading out on enduro bikes with 7-time Paris-Dakar rider Mick Extance – and getting stuck into some North Wales mud, quite literally. Then it’s on to World Cup Round 6 at La Bresse in France, where §legendary bike designer Max Commencal pays the team a visit and lends some words of advice and encouragement.

Episode 7 of The Atherton Project begins in Windham for round 5 of the World Cup with the team feeling the pressure for points following the disappointment of the last round – especially for Gee, if he’s to retain his title this season. Then it’s on to Whistler for the Crankworx event, a good chance to get away from the World Cup and have some fun, whether it’s judging the Miss Trail Bunny competition or working on some backflips in a foam pit.

Episode 5 of The Atherton Project begins with the team travelling to the mountain town of Sauze D’Oulx for some a week’s free riding ahead of the next World Cup race. It’s a place where all there is to do is eat, sleep and ride – a perfect place to hone skills and switch off from the rigours of the World Cup, at least temporarily. The team also reflect on the season so far, and look ahead to what’s to come

Episode 4 begins with the team hitting the road as they make the long drive to the next world cup race in Leogang, Austria. Gloomy weather means the track’s not looking its best. Undeterred, Gee’s keen to get a good qualifier and a podium place to get some points in the bank. Dan’s fast getting reacquainted with the sheer speed of World Cup races, and needs to find his pace if he’s to be in contention. The team then drop in at the Red Bull Hangar-7 in Salzburg for a high-G spin in one of the Flying Bulls stunt planes. The idea that extreme athletes should be able to take anything thrown at them soon goes out the window, and it’s sick bags at the ready as the team takes to the skies.

Episode 3 of The Atherton Project kicks off with a visit from pro trials biker and viral internet sensation Danny MacAskill, who takes the gang out for a spot of inspirational riding around Llanrhaeadr, much to the locals’ bemusement. Dan reflects on how post-injury he’s become so much more aware of the risks involved, and visits the dirt jumps that took him out of action last year still unsure if he’s properly over the crash. Then it’s off to Fort William for one of the biggest races of the season, and Dan’s first proper race back in the saddle. Year after year, Fort Bill never disappoints, and the home crowd is always able to push the riders even harder – can the team overcome technical problems and secure podium places? Now in its third series, Red Bull’s reality TV series ‘The Atherton Project’ is a fly-on-the-wall show tracking the exploits of the most famous family in mountain bike history. Follow British riders Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton as they compete in events around the world in the 2011 season.
