Bam Margera

Brandon Cole Margera, better known as Bam Margera, was born in West Chester, PA in 1979. Margera acquired his nickname at the age of three from hisgrandfather, who noticed that he would often crash into walls. Margeradropped out of high school after the expulsion of Chris Raab, his friend and late collaborator, and earned a GED in lieu of a diploma.

Margera first came to prominence through a series of videos put together by the CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) Crew. These videos featured Margera and others, including Raab and Ryan Dunn, doing various skateboarding tricks and stunts.These videos came to the attention of Jeff Tremaine, one of the creators of Jackass, and, due to the success of their videos, Margera and members of his
crew became a part of the show, with Margera and Dunn playing leading roles and the rest of the crew playing lesser parts. Jackass was a big success for MTV and spawned two theatrical releases in which Margera featured.

While Margera achieved later success, including being given a popular spinoff show entitled Viva La Bam, he also encountered many personal set-backs. At one point, Margera had to file for a “Protection From Abuse” against his former fiancé Jenn Rivell, who had roles in various Margera projects. Margera has also experienced issues with alcohol and needed to b hospitalized in 2009 after a binge of several days. In 2010, Margera suffered head injuries inflicted by a baseball bat in an attack outside his West Chester? bar and needed to be hospitalized for a night as a result.

Bam Margera's Career Highlights


Although Margera doesn’t compete as a professional skateboarder, he is a member of Tea Element and has been featured as a character in several of Tony Hawk’s video games. In addition to his work with Jackass and Viva La Bam, which lased five seasons, he will be starring in an upcoming Spike TV series, Bam’s World Domination. Margera has also starred in several movies outside of Jackass, including Haggard and Mindhags, both of which hedirected.

Besides his TV and movie work, Margera also hosts a weekly radio show, Radio Bam, on Sirius. Margera also operates a record label and has been a frequent
director of music videos for the bands HIM and The 69 Eyes.
