Dane Reynolds is arguably the most talented free surfer in the world. Although he was born in Long Beach, California in 1985, Reynolds did not begin surfing until his family moved to Ventura, California in 1995. The move to Ventura proved to be a stroke of luck for the young Reynolds; here, the beaches were better suited to the fluid and aggressive style that he would later develop. The point breaks along the Ventura coastline provided Dane with an ideal opportunity to polish his progressive technique. By the time he reached late adolescence, Reynolds had cultivated a style and attitude that forcefully placed him on the radar of the professional surfing community.

Dane Reynolds's Career Highlights

At 25, Dane Reynolds has already won numerous competitions and awards. He achieved the highest score for a single wave at the X Games in both 2003 and 2004. In 2006, his short video, “First Chapter,” won Video of the Year at the Surfer Poll Awards. He joined the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) in 2008, eventually receiving Rookie of the Year Honors. Since joining the ASP World Tour, Dane has climbed steadily higher in the tour rankings. In 2009 he jumped from No. 22 to No. 10, and he is currently ranked fourth in the 2010 ASP World Title competition.
