Tanner Hall

Known for being one of the world’s greatest skiers, Tanner Hall is a force to be reckoned with. He is hands down the biggest name in freeskiiing. Born October 26, 1983 in Kalispell, Montana, Tanner grew up to dominate both the slopestyle and halfpipe scene at the Winter X Games.

In 2001, Tanner Hall earned his first gold medal at the Winter X Games Big Air competition, followed by three consecutive gold medals in the X Games slopestyle competitions in the years following that. In March of 2005 he broke both his ankles while attempting to pull a switch 900 in Wasatch, Utah’s famous Chad’s Gap. His injuries disabled him from competing for the remainder of the season, but in 2006 Tanner Hall returned to win two gold medals at the Winter X Games and the US Freeskiiing Open…followed by another gold in 2007 and in 2008 at the Winter X Games Superpipe competition, making it his third back to back gold for the X Games halfpipe competition.

Aside from being a fierce competitor at the park and pipe scene, Tanner Hall is also an amazing backcountry skier. Videos are consistently put together that are recognized as being some of the best of the year.

Both Newschoolers Awards and Power Awards regularly vote him skier of the year during the Freeskiing Film Festivals and X Games, which has allowed him to produce a numerous series of films (also winning several awards). He also co-founded the ski company, Armada Skis, and is part owner of Retallack, a snowcat ski hill near Nelson, BC.

Dominic Hall, his father and a former professional skier of the United States downhill team, manages his career. Not only is Tanner the first and only skier to three peat at the Winter X Games, but he also holds the record for having the most gold medals of any athlete for the Winter X Games, even beating out Shaun White and Shaun Palmer with a total of seven.

In 2009, Tanner Hall suffered another injury, having ACL tears and tibial plateau fractures in both knees, causing yet another hiatus in his career. He has since gotten back to training on the trampoline in the summer of 2010.
