A 360 flip is a skateboarding trick where the board spins around 360 degrees, while also flipping like a kick flip. This trick was invented by skateboarding legend Rodney Mullen while looking for tricks that were more inventive for his freestyle routine. Rodney also invented the kick flip and the 360 pop shuvit. The trick was leaps and bounds beyond its years when it was invented in the 1980s.
To achieve a 360 flip, the rider must place his back foot on the tail, without their foot hanging off the edge of the board. The ideal location is directly behind the mounting screws of the trucks. The rider’s front foot should be somewhere near the middle of the board, and pointed slightly forward. The rider must now kneel down to do an Ollie, and as the board’s nose goes into the air, the rider must swing their back foot around towards the back of them. While performing this, the rider must slide his front foot forward just like they are performing a kick flip. After the board has finished spinning, the rider must now land the trick.
