A varial flip is a type of flip trick commonly used in skateboarding and skateboarding competitions. A varial flip is considered to be an advanced trick in the sport of skateboarding. A varial flip is a combination of a kickflip and a shove itshuvit flip trick. The trick can be easily learned with a great deal of practice and patience. Many skateboarders perform this trick in events. Most would argue that Tony Hawk was actually the first street skateboarder to perform a varial flip.
It is suggested that the boarder be familiar with a kickflip and a shuvit before attempting a varial flip. To achieve a varial flip the boarder would set up as if he was going to perform a kickflip. To perform a varial flip put your back foot on the middle of the tail of the board, your front foot should be angled inward towards the front left side of the board. Bend your knees like you would when performing an ollie. When you are ready give the tail of the board a push with your back foot, at the same time use your front foot on the corner of the board to shove it the same way you would as a kickflip. The action made by your front foot should guide the board into a backside spin.
All of these steps need to be performed at the same time you ollie. Once you ollie and use your front foot to flip the board, make sure you bend your knees to give the board plenty of room to rotate. Once your board has made the full 180 spin push back down on the board to land a varial flip!
