The first of four prequel videos. Chapter One introduces the key players and the concept behind the Hicks on Sticks tour of '99. 'Hicks on Sticks' is an upcoming documentary about skateboarding, brotherhood, passion, and chasing your dream. It follows the Hicks on Sticks skateboarding tour from the summer of 99. The goal was to bring skateboarding to small towns, places that weren't usually exposed to anything but 4x4ing and drinking beer. With updated interviews we have shot over the last 5 years we are brought up to date with all of the key players. Starring Josh Evin, Eugene Vorkin, Shane Wallace, Mike Evans & Ian Comishin.

In 1999, skateboard company owner, Ian Comishin, embarked on a journery in the unknown. He organized a tour with his skateboard team and 2 bands to travel across western Canada putting on shows in small towns. With financial sponsorship dropping out at the last minute and Ian’s willingness to dive into company debt, it all unfolds, propelling him to an end he never anticipated.

Skatepark refurbishment ramps up with bespoke mural Newquay’s newly reopened skatepark Wooden Waves will soon be home to a one of a kind mural courtesy of ethical lifestyle brand Sutsu. On Saturday 6th August illustrator and Sutsu collaborator Jake Blanchard will be bringing his unique style of illustration inspired by the environment, music and mythology to one of the ramps at Wooden Waves. Visitors will be able to watch the mural take shape throughout the day and the Sutsu team will be filming the entire process. Jon Wallhouse, Creative Director at Sutsu was keen to be involved with Wooden Waves and felt that Jake’s work would be an interesting alternative to skatepark graffiti. He commented: “As an ethical lifestyle brand we were keen to support the social enterprise model XtraVert are trialling at Wooden Waves and wanted to bring a little of Sutsu’s creativity to the park. We’ve collaborated with Jake on our clothing range and his work is always inspiring so we’re exciting to see the end result in this unusual location” In addition to Jake’s work in progress
