About Big Mountain

Big Mountain skiing, or Freeskiing, is frequently the term used to describe skiing, whether in a resort or backcountry. Recently, Freeskiing has broadened its definition to include skiing within a terrain park. Terrain parks are specially crafted and designated areas within resorts that provide skiers or snowboarders with jumps, boxes, and rails for tricks. Freeskiing has evolved from race skiing, and the “free” in Freeskiing refers to those skiers who would ski outside the limits of the ski racetrack. From there the sport has evolved into one of the most popular winter sports. Today Big Mountain skiing can be seen on a global scale in many countries around the world. Unlike race-skis, Big Mountain skiers use skis that are both parabolic and twin tipped. This provides skiers with the ability to ski both forward and backward in an efficient manner. Big Mountain skiing has evolved from race skiing and provides skiers of all abilities the possibility of enjoying the sport of skiing at many different levels.
