This clip was filmed either side of The Nelscott Invitational in Oregon. We towed Aileens, then raced over to the contest the next day. We left the same evening and flew back to Belfast to have a paddle session at Aileens and another spot nearby. www.almennie.com

Film by Ernesto Kelly/Surf Devil.com Benjamin Sanchis and Eric Ribiere won the event, Gabe Davies too Best Barrel, his tow partner Richie Fitzgerald took Worst Wipe-out and Easkey Britton won the female devision since she was the only girl to take it on. Top of the Irish crews was Peter Conroy and Glyn Ovens with Al Mennie and Andrew Cotton coming in 2nd.

The revealing of the big wave spot called Prowlers, literally exploded in the press on 08th November 2010. Until then it was a closely guarded secret and its exact location will remain so but in this interview Fitzgerald the Northcore brand ambassador explains how and when the wave was discovered, how it breaks, who named it and he also discusses the future of tow in surfing in Ireland and the possiblities of someone riding a 100ft wave off the Emerald Isle. The film is a brief but fascinating insight into Prowlers, including footage and stills from the now famous session on 08th Nov 2010.

Peter Derham, Margaret's Region, July ‘Watching it from the hill before getting in the boat I was just hoping we could make it out there without getting caught by one. After waiting 15 minutes for a gap we just went for it, hoping for the best. The sets were 40ft+ and getting bigger throughout the morning. This landed on his head right after I shot it, taking him pretty deep and leaving everyone witnessing it, 8 skis and 6 or 7 boats of photogs wondering how he didn’t break something.’ - by Tungsten/Nikon
