Asiatic Bear Walking Like A Human Is The Weirdest Thing You’ll See Today

There's a chance this bear's back story will make you livid with anger...

Sometimes a video drops that’s so utterly bizarre, we actually have to pinch ourselves to make sure we haven’t drifted off into some unfathomable dream land. Filmed at the Laos Wildlife Rescue Center, this footage of an Asiatic black bear walking around on its hind legs like a human is one such video.

It’s no exagerration to say that, the first time we watched this, our mouths dropped open from the shock of it all. The bear strolls alongside the fence like a man going for a sunday stroll, down by the river. If he was wearing a hat, some clothes, and had a newspaper under his arm; we’re not even sure we’d still recognise it as a bear.

“The bear strolls alongside the fence like a man going for a sunday stroll, down by the river.”

It’s a mesmerising watch, don’t get us wrong, but it’s also horribly unsettling. The way the bear moves, the way it stops, the way it looks down the lens as if it to say “Yeah man, I’m walking. What of it?” It’s all just really, really, weird.

If the bears do ever take over the world, historians will pinpoint this video as the beginning of ‘The Great Bear Revolution’ (or whatever they decide to call it).

Unfortunately, this incredible bear does have a sad backstory. It was rescued from a bear bile farm, where it was kept in small cages and fed pitiful amounts of food. This resulted in the animal becoming malnourished, and having a body disproportionate to its head size.

The rescue centre it now inhabits used to be a zoo, where visitors could feed the animals by throwing food over the fence. With its lightweight frame, the bear was able to stand up and catch the food as it dropped into the enclosure. This practice of standing up and waiting for food became a habit, and the bear continued to do it even when it was no longer necessary.

We’re not sure about you guys, but the backstory of this bear has made us think that ‘The Great Bear Revolution’ wouldn’t be such a bad idea afterall. Humans are cruel. We don’t deserve to be in charge. LIBERTÉ POUR LES OURS! (FREEDOM FOR THE BEARS!)
