These Guys Made Their Own Snowboard…For Under £80

This is easily one of the best bits of DIY we've ever seen

Buying a snowboard’s expensive, right? Even if you nab yourself an end of season bargain, you’re still going to be shelling out the best part of £250 for a board. And lets be honest, who isn’t feeling the financial pinch a little bit now?

So, what if there was another way? What if you could make your own snowboard for around £80? Before you reply with a reasonable and rational comment, incredulously questioning the plausibility, the guys at Signal Snowboards have just gone and done exactly that. Well, kind of…

In their regular web series Every Third Thursday, the fellas took themselves down to a hardware store to buy all the bits they need to make a functional, working board. They managed to fill their pick up truck with all kinds of moisture-stopping wall paper, wooden fence posts, metal tile edgers, and other gubbins you’d normally see on Extreme Home Makovers that came to a total just over $100 – about £75.

They then took it all to their workshop full of expensive tools and equipment that certainly wasn’t accounted for in the very tight budget, and used their years of experience to piece together a pretty convincing looking board. They even built their own board press out of bits from the hardware store so, drills and electric saws aside, it would be a bit harsh to say this wasn’t legit.

It stood up to some pretty tasty abuse up on this hill as well, as pro rider Tucker Brown jibbed his bearded heart out on the best looking bit of DIY we’ve seen in ages.
