Here’s What Happens When You Try To Jump A Hipster Bike Down A Set of Stairs

This guy ended up with broke bones, a snapped artisan baguette, and several scratched Neil Young records when his fixie failed on the stairs...

Fixed gear bikes, commonly called ‘fixies’ are normally the preserve of hipsters. Whenever you see one chained to a railing, if you wait long enough, it’s inevitable you’ll see some moustachioed guy or girl in a vintage sweatshirt with a drawing of a bear on it turn up and ride away.

Much rarer do you see somebody trying to air a 20 stair set on one of the clunky bastards (we mean the bikes, not the hipsters who ride them). However, pro BMX rider Jonathan Ball did exactly that.

He headed to the infamous El Toro 20 stair in California and aired pretty cleanly down the lot. He even threw in a bar spin for good measure. But El Toro isn’t letting anybody get away too easily. Ball hit the flat pretty hard, and ride away with a broken foot for his efforts.
