Ken Block Has Just Released Gymkhana Nine

Stop talking. Stop thinking. JUST. PRESS. PLAY

Motorsport legend and regular internet melter Ken Block is back, and he’s just released his craziest video yet. Gymkhana Nine: Raw Industrial Playground sees block in his famous Hoonigans rally car tearing around a whole host of locations, from warehouses, to docks, and even throwing hit motor around the front on an on-rushing train.

Last night we had a chat with ken, talking about Gymkhana Nine. When we asked him if he’d ever been scared making any of the films, with a hearty laugh he admitted “It’s funny you mention that, it happened three times when making this particular video.”

“One of the driving parts is doing some slides on the edge of a peer, which is right on Lake Eerie. The purpose of the shot was to get most of my rear wheels of the edge of this peer. “

“That’s not an easy thing to do with a very expensive race car…”

“Well, that’s not an easy thing to do with a very expensive race car, especially when you can’t see the back of the car! Sometimes I thought ‘Am I going to end up swimming today?”.” added Block with a chuckle.

Gymkhana Nine seems a slight change from the most recent Gymkhana films Block released, which were all about driving around one particular place. They were almost a love letter to these locations, albeit a love letter covered in tyre marks, and rich with the stench of brunt rubber.

“This one isn’t location based, The last couple of films have been in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dubai, they were all very city based” said the former DC Shoes man. “This one isn’t about a location or a city. It’s just back to simple, raw driving. It’s more about sketch, technical driving than about a location.”
